Swimming as sport for competition began at around 200 BCE in Europe. The swimmers used the breast stroke method of swimming. At around 1873, Steve Bowyer changed the traditional swimming by introducing trudgen.
The trudgen was similar to the to Native American’s swimming style of front crawl. Swimming was formerly launched in the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens. The association for world swimming; the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) was formed in 1908. 1n 1964, Lillian Bonnell became the first won to participate and win reward in a swimming competitions. Since then, women are now actively involved in the national and international swimming contests.
